Covid Part 10 – The Lockdowns (Part 2)

The Lockdowns Don’t Even Stop the Virus

The current blanket lockdowns are inefficient, ineffective, and poorly targeted. It makes no sense to force children and healthy younger people to isolate and hide from the virus when they are extremely unlikely to be killed by it (see parts 1 & 2). If those who are not vulnerable to it are naturally exposed and become immune, they will not spread it to the older populations which ARE vulnerable. The herd immunity of the young and strong will shield the old and weak. Martin Kulldorff of Harvard Medical School explains:

“The question is not whether to aim for herd immunity as a strategy, because we will all eventually get there. The question is how to minimise casualties until we get there. Since Covid-19 mortality varies greatly by age, this can only be accomplished through age-specific countermeasures. We need to shield older people and other high-risk groups until they are protected by herd immunity.”

“The current one-size-fits-all lockdown approach is leading to unnecessary deaths… we must change course if we want to reduce suffering and save lives.”

The blanket lockdown approach doesn’t even reduce mortality rates per million. We’re so far into this thing that we actually have data now to draw from, we don’t have to use computer models and fortune tellers:

Increased mortality per million was significantly associated with higher obesity prevalence… and per capita gross domestic product….. Rapid border closures, full lockdowns, and wide-spread testing were not associated with COVID-19 mortality per million people.

If forced lockdowns, masks, and distancing are “the only way to beat the virus,” why aren’t the homeless populations decimated? How about prisons? Countries and states that didn’t lock down?

This article analyzes the different approaches some EU nations took, and found that “…there’s little correlation between the severity of a nation’s restrictions and whether it managed to curb excess fatalities…”

Norway’s health chief says lockdowns are unnecessary.

D. A. Henderson… directed a 10-year international effort (1967–1977) that eradicated smallpox throughout the world… Dr. Henderson authored a report on pandemics and the value of lockdowns. According to Dr. Henderson and a team of esteemed epidemiologists lockdowns were found to be ‘ineffective and destructive.’”

Remember when the lockdown was going to be 2 weeks to flatten the curve and avoid hospital overwhelm? What a joke that was. Go back and look at part 1 again. There was hardly a curve to flatten and deaths were trending downward by the end of March! No overwhelm whatsoever in WA state. Even New York didn’t use most of their emergency hospitals. Why is the lockdown still going on?

But wait, there’s more!

Social isolation and loneliness increase mortality rates, which means keeping the elderly under house arrest (whether they like it or not) and preventing them from socializing or seeing their families makes them die faster from ALL causes. Humans are social creatures; if we are isolated our bodies initiate a stress-response and increased cortisol which inhibits the immune system. This is very well-researched.

Both social isolation and loneliness were associated with increased mortality.”

Our results suggest that the co-existence of social isolation and homebound statuses may synergistically increase risk of mortality. Both active and socially integrated lifestyle in later life might play a major role in maintaining a healthy status.

Independently of multiple behavioural and psychosocial correlates, recent onset of social isolation is related to diurnal cortisol patterns that increase the risk of morbidity and mortality.

The Restrictions are Capricious, Spiteful, and Arbitrary

Why is it fine to go to Home Depot but not to church? Why can I go to Walmart but not the gym? Why can I go to a crowded protest night after night after night but not to a flower shop? Why can I only protest SOME things?

Why is it safe for me to go to a weed store, a liquor store, or shopping at the mall, but not to take open air tours of this poor woman’s farm for rescued animals which now has to close or face a $10,000 fine?

Why is it safe to get on a crowded airplane and breathe recycled air for 10 hours, but not to go to a one-man barbershop? Or a pet grooming business? Or a bar? Why can I go to Trader Joe’s but not vote in person?

Why do counties in WA with almost 0 deaths have to be locked down and masked? 31 out of 39 counties have 20 or fewer deaths each TOTAL, why are they locked down?

From a pure viral transmission perspective none of this makes any sense. It’s not like the corporate stores allowed to remain open are only selling “essential items,” they’re open for all their normal functions. The lockdowns are totally favoring corporate America and it shows. Main street is getting wiped out by comparison.

Furthermore, why do we need mass surveillance and forced quarantine for such a mild virus? Why on earth would we need contact tracing for a virus that has killed so few of us? Why don’t we track and trace HIV or hep B? Why don’t we have contact tracing for pedophiles?

Why don’t we target our interventions to protect the vulnerable populations without destroying our economy? I’m all for protecting nursing homes and the people who are actually likely to die. Why don’t we do that? The brutal shotgun approach being forced on us is ruining millions of lives and it’s only getting worse.

It’s almost as though someone stands to profit from destruction of small businesses & mass property foreclosures…

Billionaires are Making Bank

Ah, of course.

“According to the Institute for Policy Studies, billionaire wealth has boomed, while over 26 million people have filed for unemployment since mid-March. The percentage of taxes paid by billionaires has fallen 79% since 1980… Billionaires boast a combined net worth of $3.229 trillion and their collective wealth skyrocketed up 1,130% between 1990 and 2020.”

“More than 6 million people signed up to receive food stamps in the first three months of the US coronavirus outbreak, according to an analysis from The New York Times.”

“In the same period, US billionaires have increased their wealth by around $565 billion…”

Oh how nice, the billionaires are sucking up tons of wealth into their pockets, and look, the banking class thinks we should lock everything down even harder for 4-6 weeks:

…if we were to lock down hard for a month or six weeks, we could get the case count down so that our testing and our contact tracing was actually enough to control it

All us plebs know the banking class definitely has our best interests in mind. We learned that in the 2008 economic crisis.

So there you have it, there’s the real reason for the lockdown. It’s siphoning money out of the lower classes and into the super-rich. That’s it, there is no other reason. The humanitarian (sarcasm) from the Fed is, astoundingly, trying to claim that it’s BEST for the country to lock down even harder for 4-6 weeks to “get the case count down,” even though case count is irrelevant. Meanwhile 20+ million renters will face homelessness by the fall and millions more already don’t have enough to eat.

Motherfucker knows that for every week of lockdown his banker pals repo more houses. Just wait for the impending foreclosure and eviction crises. A tremendous amount of property is about to be taken from the citizens and transferred to the banks and real estate speculators because of this lockdown. That tells you everything you need to know about why it’s happening. The 1% doesn’t give a shit about you or your health and they have immense political influence. They’ve even leveraged the situation to boondoggle themselves some nice bailouts they didn’t deserve.

It’s just criminal, what they’re doing. It’s a crime against humanity. And as long as some of us common folk are busy being snitches and collaborators, they’ll never be punished for it. They can only do it to us if we let them.
